Centralia College graduate Jayden White was honored in early October in Boise, Idaho, as the first ever recipient of the Larry and Jeanine Jones Memorial Scholarship, a new scholarship from the Friends of the Northwest Association of Educational Opportunity Programs (FON).

This scholarship was nomination-only and highly competitive, with 24 nominees from 19 different colleges and universities across four states, according to Centralia College.

White was awarded the $5,000 scholarship and spoke at the FON luncheon about her experience in Centralia College’s TRIO Upward Bound program and in Running Start, Washington state’s dual-credit program that allows high school juniors and seniors to take college classes tuition-free.

White graduated from Centralia College and Rochester High School in June and is now studying music education at Pacific Lutheran University.
