Centralia Public Works to begin fire hydrant flushing next week

Posted

Beginning Monday, April 8, Centralia Public Works Water Department staff will begin flushing all fire hydrants throughout the city in a process that will take approximately three weeks, according to a city news release.

Hydrant flushing is a preventative maintenance process that’s done twice a year to bring fresh water into the lines.

“During this process, the City of Centralia’s water is safe to drink,” the release stated.

Water department staff will spend about a day in each neighborhood flushing the hydrants throughout the three-week process.
