The Chehalis Activators, a nonprofit organization committed to supporting youth sports programs at Chehalis Middle School, has announced a donation of $25,000 to the Chehalis Foundation.

The contribution will directly aid in the construction of a state-of-the-art tennis facility in Chehalis, according to a news release from the nonprofit. The facility would also be used for wrestling, according to previous Chronicle coverage.

"We are very excited to be able to contribute to the Chehalis Foundation's efforts in building a new tennis facility in Chehalis," said Lance Tornow, president of the Chehalis Activators. "As an organization deeply invested in the wellbeing and development of our youth, we recognize the importance of providing access to quality sports facilities. This contribution aligns with our mission to foster a culture of active living and community involvement."

The Lewis County Tennis Association has been pursuing the development of a modern indoor tennis complex to serve the community's growing interest in the sport, according to the release.

“With the generous support of the Chehalis Activators and many private donors, this dream is closer to becoming a reality,” the release stated. “The new facility will not only provide a space for tennis enthusiasts to hone their skills but will also serve as a hub for community engagement and healthy recreation.”

The new facility is expected offer modern amenities, including multiple indoor tennis courts, spectator seating and space for community events and tournaments.

"We are incredibly grateful for the generous support from the Chehalis Activators," said Jenny Collins, executive director of the Chehalis Foundation. "Their contribution not only accelerates our progress towards building the new tennis facility but also underscores the power of community collaboration in making positive changes. Together, we are creating a space where individuals of all ages can enjoy the sport of tennis and foster lasting connections within our community, no matter the weather."

In the news release, the Chehalis Activators encouraged other local businesses and community members to join them in supporting the initiative, emphasizing the impact it will have on the community's youth and residents for generations to come.

The Chehalis Activators have two primary fundraisers each year: The Activators Track Classic on April 19 and 20 at Bearcat Stadium and the Chehalis Activators Golf Tournament on May 18 at Newaukum Valley Golf Course. Sponsors and donations are being collected for both events. For more information, contact Tornow at ltornow@papemachinery.com.
