The Chehalis Land Trust, with the help of volunteers from Pacific Mobile Structures, filled 44 large paper bags with invasive plants on Earth Day, April 22. The event was held on the Chehalis Discovery Trail at 1545 Goodrich Road.

The day started at 9 a.m. with unloading tools brought by the volunteers from Pacific Mobile Structures, and volunteers shared their goal of the day, which was to remove as many invasive plants as possible so as to allow native vegetation in the riparian area to thrive.

Invasive plants removed included thistle, tansy ragwort and Himalayan blackberry, all listed on the Washington state noxious weeds list.

The plants volunteers removed all produce seeds that spread easily.

Pacific Mobile Structures, which sells and leases mobile office space, encourages its employees to improve the communities in which they live by offering eight hours of volunteer time off to each employee every year, according to a news release.
