Experience Chehalis has announced its search for a new executive director as the organization continues its work to strengthen downtown Chehalis and support a vibrant, welcoming and economically resilient community, a Thursday news release from the organization stated.

Annalee Tobey, the outgoing executive director, was the organization’s first leader and maintained that position for nine years.

“She has made a lasting impact on the community and Experience Chehalis wishes her the best on her new adventure,” the news release stated.

During the search process, Angie Guy, who currently serves as outreach coordinator, will serve as interim executive director, providing leadership and continuity for Experience Chehalis and its ongoing programs, partnerships and community initiatives.

“We are excited about the opportunity to find the right leader to help guide Experience Chehalis into its next chapter,” Brian Wilkins, board chair of Experience Chehalis, said in the release. “Angie will provide valuable continuity during this transition, and we appreciate her willingness to step into this role and support our organization, our downtown businesses and the broader Chehalis community.”

The executive director serves as the chief executive and community-facing leader of Experience Chehalis, working closely with the board of directors, the City of Chehalis, downtown businesses, property owners, community organizations, public agencies, funders and volunteers.

The position will provide leadership across a broad range of community and economic development activities, including downtown revitalization, business support, historic preservation, marketing, community engagement, fundraising, events and partnerships. The executive director will also play a key role in Experience Chehalis’ participation in the Washington Main Street program and oversee the operations and promotion of Chehalis Coworks.

Experience Chehalis is seeking a collaborative and entrepreneurial leader with significant experience in areas such as nonprofit management, economic development, downtown revitalization, community development, tourism, business development, marketing or a related field, according to the release.

The ideal candidate will have strong relationship-building, communication, fundraising, project management and organizational skills, along with a genuine enthusiasm for supporting local businesses and strengthening the community.

The position is a full-time, 12-month exempt position with a salary range of $75,000-$85,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience. The position is fully in-person and includes regular participation in community meetings, networking opportunities, activities and events, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Experience Chehalis encourages qualified individuals interested in helping shape the future of downtown Chehalis to consider applying for the executive director position.
