A Chehalis man was charged with three felonies this week after allegedly escaping community custody and being found in possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Cash Loyal Reynolds, 30, appeared in Lewis County Superior Court Monday afternoon for a preliminary hearing.

Superior Court Judge Joely Yeager set bail at $50,000 cash or bond citing previous charges, including a previous conviction of escaping community custody in 2024.

The Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office filed three charges against Reynolds. The local man faces one count of escape from community custody, which is a class C felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Reynolds also faces two counts of possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance. The charge is a class B felony with a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine.

During the hearing, Lewis County Senior Deputy Prosecutor Scott Jackson asked Yeager to set bail at $75,000, citing five previous convictions against Reynolds in the last six years, including the previous escape from community custody charge as well as possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

He added that Reynolds has faced six warrants for his arrest in the past.

Defense attorney Rachael Tiller requested the state maintain the bail of $10,000 cash or bond already set over the weekend.

According to the defense attorney, Reynolds has no means to post the required amount of bail and is also likely to be held in custody regardless due to an active hold filed by the Washington state Department of Corrections (DOC).

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office, Reynolds was taken into custody on Friday after two DOC officers apprehended him with help from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office.

The two officers visited a local property near Napavine in order to locate Reynolds after the DOC issued a warrant for his arrest. According to the account from the arresting officers, they found Reynolds on the property residing in a travel trailer.

The affidavit states that Reynolds was in community custody after being convicted in 2024 with the same charges he faced in court this week.

He had been released from the DOC and transitioned to community custody late last month but failed to check in with a community corrections officer in the middle of last week.

The officer reported searching the trailer where Reynolds was found due to his community supervision.

Inside, the officers allegedly found a digital scale with white powder residue along with nearly 20 grams of fentanyl powder and 5 grams of methamphetamine contained in clear bags along with many additional bags with “green alien heads” printed on them.

The officers also report finding another bag and a lockbox containing a variety of additional drug paraphernalia including “smoking devices,” “multiple pieces of foil with suspected fentanyl" and “two new packs of syringes.”

Reynolds remained held in the Lewis County Jail as of Wednesday morning.

Reynolds, according to Tiller, does qualify to be assigned a defense attorney by the state and will be represented by Lewis County defense attorney Josh House when he appears for arraignment later this week.
