The Chehalis Police Department assisted the U.S. Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) in a federal fraud investigation Monday, according to a news release from the police department.

The investigation is not related to federal immigration enforcement, police said.

According to the release, at about 10 a.m. Monday, Chehalis officers provided “perimeter security” while DSS personnel executed a federal search warrant at a location on Bishop Road.

“Once the scene was secured, Chehalis police officers cleared the area while federal personnel continued processing the scene,” the release said.

Police said no injuries occurred during the operation. DSS reportedly collected evidence at the scene.

The police department said it was not involved in the investigation.

Those interested in learning more about the investigation were told to contact DS-Press@state.gov or the DSS San Francisco Field Office at 415-705-1176.

Questions about the local operation can be directed to Chehalis Deputy Chief Matt McKnight at 360-748-8605, according to the release.
