Chehalis School Board Approves District’s 2023-24 Budget

Following a public hearing Tuesday morning, the board of directors for the Chehalis School District unanimously approved its budget for the 2023-24 school year. 

The budget allocates $56,391,427 to the general fund, $8,960,000 to the capital projects fund, $607,500 to the transportation vehicle fund, $2,416,845 to the debt service fund and $895,924 to the associated student body fund. 

The budget forecasts a total enrollment of 2,874 students for the upcoming school year, of which 2,720 are K-12 and the remaining are enrolled in programs such as Running Start or dropout reengagement. For reference, the Chehalis School District counted a total enrollment of 2,833 students for the 2022-23 school year and 2,837 for the 2021-2022 school year. 



The district anticipates receiving a total of $54,454,421 in revenue for the 2023-24 school year, of which $5,612,824 is from property taxes and $38,470 is from the timber excise tax. 

The 2022-23 budget showed $53,075,225 in total revenue, $5,540,342 of which was from property taxes.
