Deputies booked a Chehalis woman into the Lewis County Jail Friday morning after she allegedly hit her boyfriend in the back of the head with a rifle during a domestic dispute.
Alyssa L. Johnson, 27, is charged with one count each of second-degree assault and fourth-degree assault, both considered domestic violence offenses.
Johnson made a preliminary appearance in Lewis County Superior Court on Friday. A judge set bail at $50,000 cash or bond, in agreement with the state’s request. The judge also granted the state’s requests for a domestic violence no-contact order on behalf of the alleged victim and an order for Johnson to surrender any firearms or dangerous weapons within her possession.
Johnson has no criminal history, said both prosecutors and Johnson’s defense attorney.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Lewis County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a domestic dispute on East Forest Napavine Road on Thursday. They arrived to find fire personnel already at the scene and tending to Johnson.
According to the affidavit, Johnson said her boyfriend was abusive and reportedly described past incidents to deputies.
Johnson was later transported to the hospital after experiencing a possible mental health crisis. The incident reportedly occurred prior to the arrival of first responders and law enforcement.
Deputies spoke to a woman at the scene who said she and Johnson had come home after going out to dinner. Johnson and Johnson’s boyfriend reportedly began arguing, and the woman left the house and sat inside a vehicle parked in the driveway.
“At one point, she saw (the man) run out of the house with both of his hands on his head,” prosecutors wrote in the affidavit. “He came down to his hands and knees. (The woman) then saw Alyssa walk out of the house and kick (the man) while he was down on the ground.”
The boyfriend reportedly accused Johnson of hitting him “in the back of the head with the barrel of the rifle” inside the house, according to the affidavit.
“He said he saw a large white flash in his eyes after he got hit and was disoriented for a short period of time,” the affidavit said.
Deputies reportedly saw a “small line of blood” near the man’s ear and a “small, bloody scratch on his left ear.”
The man reported stumbling outside and falling to his knees. He accused Johnson of kicking him several times in the ribs until the woman pulled Johnson away.
Deputies reportedly recovered the rifle and photographed the man’s injuries.
According to the affidavit, Johnson allegedly admitted to kicking her boyfriend in the side and said she “did not care because she had enough of him beating her.”
Johnson is scheduled for an arraignment on Oct. 15.
