Children’s Nature Activity set for Saturday at Seminary Hill Natural Area in Centralia

Posted

Bring the kids to the forest this Saturday for fun art projects and a child-paced nature walk at the Seminary Hill Natural Area in Centralia.

This free event begins at 10 a.m. and is on June 15 and is open to all. Free cookies will be available for the children and coffee for the adults.

“Bring out the kids and enjoy a fun morning at our hillside forest jewel,” said Brian Mittge, president of the Friends of the Seminary Hill Natural Area. “The century-old trees of the Seminary Hill Natural Area never look as good as when they have children exploring and enjoying their natural beauty,”

The art projects will be geared toward children of all ages. Families are encouraged to come together.

Other upcoming free and family-friendly events at the Seminary Hill Natural Area:

• Animals in Nature — Saturday, July 20, at 10 a.m. with wildlife biologist Jessica Homyack

• Music on the Hill — Saturday, Aug. 24 at 10 a.m. with The Department of Peace Trio and other local musicians. (Contact the Friends if you’d like to be a musician at this event)

• Trail Maintenance Work Party — Saturday, Sept. 14 at 9 a.m.

All events are organized and hosted by the Friends of the Seminary Hill Natural Area, a nonprofit group that has been working in partnership with the city of Centralia (which owns the natural area property) to care for the forest and offer interpretive events for 45 years. The group is always ready to welcome in new volunteers.
