Christina Elizabeth Booth, 91, Vader, died Sept 8, 2011 at the Hospice Care Center in Longview.

She was born August 23, 1920 to Homer and Lena (Anderson) Dunivan at McCleary,  WA.  She became one of Ryderwood’s original residents when her family moved there in 1923.  She lived for most of her life in the Vader-Ryderwood area. However, she and her brother and sister lived with their aunt and uncle in the far southeast corner of Colorado from 1929 to1935, during the Dust Bowl.

Christina went to school at Brim Creek School near Vader; Baca County School, CO; Vader; Toledo High School; and Ryderwood High School. As a young woman, she worked as a caregiver in Ryderwood and Rainier, Oregon, and later sold Avon products and worked seasonally at Sherwood Forest Farms in Centralia.

She married Robert Duane Booth in October 1939.  They lived in Ryderwood from 1941 until the town was sold in 1953, then returned to the Cougar Flat Valley between Vader and Ryderwood.  She had lived at the Delaware Plaza in Longview since November 2010.

Christina had been a member of Vader PTA and Little Falls Rebekah Lodge, and remained active in the Vader Garden Club and the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Winlock.  She enjoyed sewing, canning, quilting, gardening, and traveling. She loved to read, and was a devoted letter writer. Family and friends meant everything to her.

She is survived by her son, Gregory (JoAnne) Booth of Clatskanie, OR; daughter-in law, Gerrie Booth of Longview; daughter Patricia (Ron) Broom of Centralia; brother Henry (June) Dunivan of Longview; sister, Shirley Hoyt of Hutchinson, KS; four grandchildren, Richard Broom of Chehalis, Pamela Carl of Centralia, Brian Booth of Kennewick, and Grant Booth of Portland; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 61 years, Robert D. (Bob) Booth; a son, Robert Adna Booth of Longview; and a sister, Gertrude Wittwer of Rainier.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Sept. 24, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Winlock, preceded by a grave-side at 1 p.m. at Little Falls Cemetery near Vader. Fir Lawn Funeral Chapel, Toledo, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations are suggested to Community Home Health and Hospice in Longview.
