After the City of Chehalis’ first Spring Clean Up event, which was originally scheduled to last two days, ended in just a matter of hours as all dumpsters were quickly filled to capacity, city staff have now scheduled another event, according to a news release.

“Due to the overwhelming demand from the Spring Clean Up event in May of this year, the City of Chehalis will be hosting a second free residential cleanup event on Saturday, Aug. 5,” the release stated.

Unlike the spring event, which had dumpsters left at various points throughout Chehalis for residents to dispose of household garbage, all four dumpsters will be located at Stan Hedwall Park.

The drop-off site will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is available to Chehalis residents only. Proof of residence will be required to dump trash.

“The dumpsters have limited capacity so when the dumpsters are full, no further items will be accepted,” the release stated.

Waste that will not be accepted includes TVs, appliances, tires, paint, batteries or chemicals of any kind. To dispose of those items, and other hazardous materials, visit https://lewiscountywa.gov/departments/solid-waste/ or contact Lewis County Solid Waste Services at 360-740-1451.

For more information on the Summer Clean Up event, contact Chehalis Police Deputy Chief Matt McKnight at 360-748-8605.

Stan Hedwall Park is located at 1501 Rice Road in Chehalis.
