Lewis County Stream Team Tree Planting Party

March 14 at Olive Branch Ranch from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Women in Business Seminar 

March 15 at The Vintage-Washington Hotel, 545 N. Market Blvd., Chehalis; 1 to 3 p.m.

The panel of local speakers will include Centralia Mayor Kelly Smith Johnston, Coralee Taylor of The Chronicle and the Silver Agency, Amanda Singleton of Rainier Connect, Suzie Swope of Gurl Gone Green Professional Blogger and Samantha Magnuson of LC Coffee and Nomad Outfitters. The cost of attendance is $10 and attendees can pre-register by calling 360-748-0114. 

 

Internet Safety Community Forum

March 15 at the Centralia College Transalta Commons, 600 Centralia College Blvd., Centralia; 6 p.m.

This is a free workshop for parents and guardians. There will be a presentation by childhood advocate and education consultant Katey McPherson. A Q&A session will follow the workshop. The event will cover what parents should know about the impacts of screen time on developing brains, peer relationships and social-emotional development. The event will have a specific focus on youth mental health and digital safety. 

 

Vet-To-Vet Cafe

March 17 at the Olequa-Winlock Senior Center, 119 SW Kerron St., Winlock; 9:30 a.m.

This event is a social hour open to all veterans of any age or branch. Attendees can enjoy the company of their fellow service members.

 

Noxious Weed Identification Class

March 17 at the Onalaska Fire Department, 1733 Main Ave., Onalaska; 5 to 7 p.m.

There will be a class on how to identify noxious apiaceae weeds. It will cover the topic of identifying giant hogweed versus native cow parsnip, poison hemlock versus water hemlock, and wild carrot and chervils so that attendees can address them appropriately. Those who attend can earn two pesticide credits for free. Attendees are encouraged to preregister as space is limited.

March 18 at Dick’s Brewery, 3516 Galvin Road, Centralia; 9 a.m.

Check-in begins at 9 a.m. and the race begins at 10. The cost is $30 for a long sleeve shirt and $15 for no shirt. Children 10 and under are free, though shirts can be purchased. The fee for the day of entry is $20 with no shirt. Register online at https://tinyurl.com/mr3vr2td. 

 

Spring Open House at the Memorial Park

March 18 at Mill and Mills Funeral Home, 5725 Littlerock Road SW, Tumwater; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Attendees can meet the staff, tour the memorial park and funeral home. There will be refreshments. 

 

Lincoln Day Dinner Fundraiser

March 18 at The Loft, 547 NW Pacific Ave., Chehalis; 6 p.m.

The Lewis County Republican Party is holding its annual Lincoln Day Dinner fundraiser. The speakers include talk radio host Todd Herman, comedian Josh Novey and Center for Self-Governance founder Mark Herr. Local activist Glen Morgan will serve as host. Roll for a Cause: March Bowl-a-Thon

March 19 at the Mill Town Smokehouse, 834 Westlake Drive, Morton; 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Mill Town Smokehouse will hold a monthly Bowl-a-Thon sponsored by the Morton Seniors Advisory Board, which provides services to local senior citizens through the Morton Senior Center. There will be teams of four, each of which requires a $150 sponsorship to participate, $100 of which the Morton Senior Center will directly receive in addition to other donations and raffle proceeds. 

 

Lewis County AAUW Used Book Sale

March, 23, 24 and 25 at the Moose Lodge, 1400 Grand Ave., Centralia; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Book prices will drop every day with the best selection of books on March 23. On March 25 books will be $5 per bag all day. The proceeds are used to fund college scholarships and other educational opportunities for women. 

 

Family Resource Fair

March 25 at the Morton Elementary School Gym, 400 W. Main Ave., Morton; 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

There will be information on infant and child CPR, booths, free raffle drawings, games, a photography session, free books and a fire truck. Free diapers can be reserved for pick up at the event by parents who are expecting or have a baby up to 18 months old by calling 360-496-3749 by March 17. There will be parenting health tips from Jason Whitney, ARNP, FNP-C and Dr. Travis Podbilski. 

 

Stationary Dinner Train

March 25 at the Chehalis Centralia Railroad and Museum, 1101 SW Sylvenus St., Chehalis; 5 p.m.

Attendees will be able to have a three-course dinner with musical entertainment aboard renovated 1920s dining cars and can choose between roasted chicken with potatoes or Fettuccine Alfredo. Tickets are $66 and are available at SteamTrainRide.com. Attendance is limited to 48 guests.
