The Lewis County Coroner’s Office has positively identified the woman found dead along the side of the road in the Rochester area early Tuesday morning as 28-year-old Tedra Dail.

“The cause and manner of death are pending toxicology and further studies and investigation,” the Lewis County Coroner’s Office stated Thursday in a news release.

The release noted that Dail was transient at the time of her death.

Aid personnel and the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 900 block of Garrard Creek Road between Oakville and Rochester at about 4:40 a.m. on April 2 for a report of “an unresponsive female who was discovered by a passing citizen near the roadway,” according to previous Chronicle reporting.

“Upon arrival of medical personnel, they determined the female was deceased and turned the scene over to law enforcement,” the sheriff’s office stated in a previous news release.

A portion of Garrard Creek Road was closed for several hours during the initial investigation Tuesday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.

“This case remains active, and due to the nature of the investigation no further information is being released at this time,” the sheriff’s office stated.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 360-748-9286 or contact Lewis County Communications at 360-740-1105.
