Dog missing after Dog Resort fire found 'injured and alone' in Seattle

The calls came in throughout the week, with sightings from the railroad tracks next to Costco, near Lumen Field, and downtown Seattle — lost dogs, likely the ones who escaped after a fire at a Sodo doggy day care. At least one was killed after being hit by a car on Interstate 5.

But one Thursday call delivered happy news: Remi, a black and gray spotted mix who had been missing, was spotted, injured and alone, near Lumen Field and T-Mobile Park. The 4-year-old was picked up by Seattle Animal Control and taken to an emergency care clinic, according to Remi's owner, Allison Scarborough.

She was found about 2.5 miles north of the Dog Resort, a pet boarding facility on South Industrial Way that caught fire Monday night. As Seattle firefighters battled the blaze, several dogs got loose, including Remi, Scarborough's second dog, Georgie, and a third dog named North.

Georgie, a rescue who Scarborough described as her "soul sister," was hit by a car and died. North, a German shepherd border collie mix, remains missing.

"I am focused on Remi's recovery and devastated at the loss of Georgie but grateful for the community's support in finding Remi," Scarborough, who is traveling in Japan, said Thursday in an email. "Please help bring North home."

Dogs that were staying in Sodo are at the Dog Resort's temporary location at 942 Elliott Ave. W., the Dog Resort wrote on Facebook.
