Yakima police are investigating the death of an 18-month-old girl who was run over by her father's pickup truck Tuesday afternoon.

YPD officers went to the home in the 200 block of South Seventh Street at 4:17 p.m. where they found the girl who had apparently been run over by a slow-moving vehicle. She was taken to MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital where she died from her injuries at 5 p.m., according to a YPD news release.

Police said the girl's father was moving the truck in the driveway and the child was partially run over by one of the tires.

Police said the incident does not appear to be criminal. Intoxicants were not a factor, YPD spokesperson Yvette Inzunza said.

Yakima County Coroner Jim Curtice said no autopsy will be performed. The child apparently died from blunt-force trauma, he said.
