The Oakville baseball team had a day to forget defensively against Wahkiakum on Monday, as the Acorns committed 12 errors in their 12-8 loss.
All 12 runs were charged to Gio Rodas, but 11 of them were unearned. He allowed just five hits and struck out six. Dre Kluth got the final six outs, allowing just one hit and striking out three.
The Acorns did what they could offensively to make up for it, scoring in five of the seven innings they came to the plate, but a five-run second and a six-run sixth helped Wahkiakum weather the storm and come out on top.
Both Kluth and Emanuel Torrance drew four walks and combined for three runs without an official at-bat, while Andres Rhoades collected two hits and drove in a run. Rodas, Joseph Charles, Isaiah Bird, and James Shields each finished with one hit and one RBI.
Oakville will hit the road on Wednesday to face Wishkah Valley before returning home on Friday to host Naselle for a doubleheader.
