Experience Chehalis, the city’s Main Street organization dedicated to supporting small businesses, has reached a milestone by awarding 100 grants to Chehalis-based small businesses.

The grants, designed to enhance the local business environment and promote economic growth, encompass a range of categories, including facade improvements, safety and security enhancements, small-event support, digital marketing initiatives and holiday-themed facade enhancements, according to a news release from Experience Chehalis.

“Since its inception, Experience Chehalis has been committed to fostering a vibrant and resilient business community in Chehalis,” the organization stated in a news release. “By providing financial support through grants, the organization aims to empower small businesses to thrive.”

Experience Chehalis launched its first grant program in 2017. Since then, the grants awarded have made an impact on participating businesses, allowing them to improve their storefronts, enhance safety measures, expand their digital presence and create memorable experiences for customers during holidays and special events.

The grants are funded through private donations and the Main Street Tax Incentive Program. Experience Chehalis has awarded more than $168,000 in grant funds, with private investments in these projects totaling over $449,000.

"This milestone is a testament to our ongoing commitment to the success of Chehalis small businesses," said Annalee Tobey, executive director. "We are proud to support our local entrepreneurs and contribute to the continued growth and prosperity of downtown Chehalis."
