A female pedestrian was fatally struck by a train in Centralia Monday morning.

The southbound Amtrak passenger train left the Centralia Union Depot at 210 N. Railroad Road in downtown Centralia just before 9 a.m. on Monday, July 29, and came to a stop near the viaduct after striking the female.

The female, who had not been identified by authorities Monday morning, died at the scene. The Lewis County coroner had arrived at about 10:30 a.m. on Monday to continue to process the scene.

Trains were stopped for about two hours as law enforcement personnel processed the scene.

A Centralia Police Department officer advised residents and visitors Monday to obey all posted no-trespassing signs along the railroad tracks.
