Fibre Federal Credit Union is continuing its Communities First Program, a multi-year sponsorship for hospitals and community colleges within the 11 Washington and Oregon counties it serves, a news release stated.

Fibre Federal places a high priority on supporting educational and healthcare related services throughout its communities, and that mission developed into the Communities First Program in 2018.

To date, the credit union has donated $284,500 to Communities First recipients, including 13 hospital foundations and seven community college foundations, according to the release.

Lewis County’s Communities First Program recipients are the Arbor Health Foundation, Providence Southwest Washington Foundation, and Centralia College Foundation.

Fibre Federal’s 2025 donation funds will be used in the following ways:

• $2,000: Arbor Health Foundation used the donation toward Morton Fund-A-Need annual auction dinner, which raised funds for rehabilitation equipment. Communities First Program lifetime donations to date total $6,000, the release stated.

• $2,000: Providence Southwest Washington Foundation’s funds will help expand awareness of the Paw-Assisted Wellness Services (PAWS) program through internal billboards at Providence Centralia Hospital. PAWS provides animal therapy bonding to patients, visitors, and staff. Communities First Program lifetime donations to date total $6,000.

• $2,500: Centralia College Foundation’s funds are funneled toward textbook scholarships for students in need. Communities First Program lifetime donations to date total $7,500.
