A 62-year-old Edgewood man could face vehicular assault charges after causing a head-on crash that injured himself and three others on U.S. Highway 12 east of Randle on Friday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Gregory J. Harrington was traveling east in a 2021 Ford F-150 near mile marker 174 at about 2:11 p.m. when he attempted to pass another vehicle in the westbound lane.

That’s when he collided head-on with a 1993 Jeep driven by Luke R. Walters, 20, of Chehalis. Walters was transported to Harborview Medical Center. Two of his passengers — Elijah J. Annonen, 18, and David Martinez, 19, both of Chehalis — were transported to Arbor Health Morton Hospital with injuries.

Harrington was transported to St. Joseph’s Medical Center.

The state patrol reported the cause of the crash as unsafe passing and indicated drugs or alcohol were involved. Harrington could face charges of vehicular assault, the state patrol noted.

Both vehicles were totaled. All involved drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts.
