A fundraising campaign has been launched for a Pe Ell area family after their home burned on Thursday night.

Firefighters from Lewis County Fire Districts 11, 13, 16 and 6 responded to the blaze in Pe Ell. There were no injuries, but the home was destroyed.

“Denise and Ethen lost their home and possessions to a devastating fire,” wrote Jessi Cox, who created a fundraising effort at gofundme.com on behalf of Denise Brooks. “Anyone that has known Denise for any length of time knows she would do anything for anyone. She is a true giver and now it's our turn to help her. Any amount helps.”

As of Monday morning, $13,155 had been raised with a goal of reaching $14,000.

“We were able to get the fire out without anyone getting hurt,” Fire District 11, based in Pe Ell, wrote on Facebook. “Mutual aid with our neighboring districts is so very valuable. Thank you Districts 16, 13 and 6!”
