Candidate for Lewis County commissioner and current Lewis County Public Utility District Commissioner Michael Hadaller suffered a heart attack last week and appears to be on the mend, according to a Facebook post from his campaign.

In the Friday post, the campaign announced that Hadaller suffered a heart attack on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and was expected to be discharged from the hospital and return home sometime Saturday.

He appeared to be in good spirits when he visited The Chronicle’s downtown Centralia office on business Monday morning.

The short announcement didn’t offer any other details about his condition or treatment, instead simply thanking the community for its support and stressing the importance of Hadaller’s health in the future.

“Mike is looking forward to getting home, recovering and getting back to the work ahead,” the campaign wrote. “For now, the most important thing is taking care of himself and following his doctors’ advice.”

Hadaller also posted very limited information about his hospital visit to his personal Facebook page, where he has also written about his campaign.

In a post from Saturday, Hadaller said he would be released around 9 a.m. after a conversation with the doctor. In a comment responding to commenters asking what was wrong with him, Hadaller responded that he had a “small open heart attack” and added that he had received five stents in his heart during his five-day stay in the hospital.

Many commenters wished Hadaller well amid hopes Hadaller would get well quickly with his potential election to a high county office just about two weeks ago. Hadaller said he had been told to rest in bed for a week after his hospital stay.

Ballots were recently mailed out for the Nov. 3 general election with Hadaller challenging incumbent Lewis County District 3 Commissioner Scott Brummer for his seat. Hadaller made it through the primary election as the second highest vote recipient, just a couple of percentage points behind Brummer.

Both Hadaller and Brummer are running for office as Republicans.
