The Historic Borst Home Museum will hold an open house from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, with a historical discussion taking place at 2 p.m., a news release from the museum stated.
The open house will be themed around Crafts and Constitution Week, which honors the founders crafting the Constitution, according to the release. During colonial times and the early days of the country, bells were used to call people together and inform people of announcements or events.
Bells called the people of Philadelphia together to hear the Declaration of Independence read publicly for the first time on July 4, 1776. Then, 11 years later on Sept. 17, bells were used to assemble people for the first public reading of the Constitution.
