In Focus: “Deaths at the Hands of ICE” art installation in Chehalis

ROOTED in Lewis County has announced the placement of a new art installation titled “Deaths at the Hands of ICE.”

The display was erected Sunday at St. Timothy Episcopal Church in Chehalis, the first location to host the installation.

ROOTED in Lewis County wrote online that the art installation is aimed at “honoring the lives who have been lost in connection with ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) since January 2025.”

“Locals created and brought this project to life with the intention of moving it to different locations over time. ROOTED in Lewis County is honored to have funded this project,” the group wrote. “‘Deaths at the Hands of ICE’ is open for anyone to come and visit as a space of mourning, reflection and solidarity. It can feel helpless to witness this kind of suffering but there are also actions you can take.”

ROOTED suggests those looking to advocate should volunteer to distribute “know your rights” information, join a local rapid response network or donate to the Immigrant Neighbors Fund through ROOTED in Lewis County.

“Check in with your family, friends, neighbors, and offer a listening ear or favor.” the group wrote.
