The 37th annual Lewis County Traffic Safety Banquet was held at the Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis on Friday, April 3, providing an opportunity to celebrate the efforts of local law enforcement officers and others working to keep the roads safe.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Dakota Russell provided The Chronicle with this roundup of the honorees who received Lewis County Target Zero Awards.
• Washington State Patrol DUI Enforcement Award: Trooper Bret Calderone (40 DUI arrests in 2025)
• Washington State Patrol Traffic Safety Officer of the Year: Trooper David Beeck (2,254 total cars stopped — 1,924 of those for speed mostly within East Lewis County)
• Mid-size agency DUI Enforcement Award: Centralia Police Department K9 Officer Daniel Cox (18 DUI arrests in 2025 while also training to be a K9 Officer)
• Mid-size agency Traffic Safety Officer of the Year: Lewis County Deputy Andrew Scrivner (18 DUI arrests – leading the sheriff’s office — and also served as a field training officer)
• Small size Traffic Safety Officer of the Year: Chehalis Police Department Officer Francisco Lime-Hernandez (541 traffic stops and still responded to 858 calls for service, leading the department in both categories)
• Community Safety Award: Judge Wade Samuelson and Riverside Fire Authority’s Laura Hanson were both recognized for their contributions to traffic safety.
• The Pe Ell High School Leadership team was also recognized for their efforts in 2025.
