In loving memory of Alice Mae Disney

Posted

Alice Mae Disney, 77, of Pe Ell, Washington, passed away peacefully on Aug. 14, 2024.

Alice was the youngest daughter of Jess and Marion Moon and grew up in the Boistfort valley with her older sister, Bev. She met Sam Disney in grade school, and they became steady sweethearts by eighth grade. They were inseparable, so much so that, at one point, Sam’s father unhooked the telephone line from outside the house so Alice would quit calling. Sam and Alice married on March 9, 1963, and son Mark soon followed. After Sam got a job with Weyerhaeuser, they purchased a house in Pe Ell, where son Brian and daughter Trisha completed the family.

Sam coached the boys in baseball and coached Trisha in fastpitch, and Alice did the books from the dugout. You could hear her from the outfield cheering on the teams. She was a stay-at-home mom and housewife until the kids got older, eventually deciding to work as a paraprofessional at Pe Ell School District. She loved working with students, and after she retired many would stop by the house for a visit.

Alice’s first grandchild, Tanner, was born in 1991. By 1997, Samantha, Macy, Bailey and Dustin were added. Alice attended every sporting event the grandkids were in that she could. Sometimes she and Sam would be on the run from Pe Ell to Onalaska and everywhere in between depending on which grandchild was playing and where. When she wasn’t watching grandkids, she enjoyed the casino, camping at the beach, Applebees, big family holidays and having a glass of boxed wine with Sam in the backyard. Within the past five years, Alice became a great-grandma to Blakely, Kade, Granger, Kara, Fallon, Weston and Waylon, who was born the day she passed.

Alice is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Sam; sons, Mark and Brian (Beth); daughter, Trisha; mother, Marion Moon; sister Beverly Whisman; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; cousins; brother and sister-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Midge.

The family would like to give special thanks to Maple Street Manor for all the kindness, love and support Janet and the girls there gave Alice, Sam and the rest of the family.

A celebration of life will be held on Aug. 31, 2024, at the VFW Hall in Pe Ell from noon to 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Pe Ell Fire Department
