In loving memory of Manny Estrada: 1941-2026

Posted

Manuel Demafelix Estrada, affectionately known as Manny, passed away on Oct. 21, 2026, at the age of 84.

Born on Nov. 29, 1941, in the Philippines, Manny moved to the United States in the 1960s, settling in Chicago, Illinois, where he began his career as a medical technologist.

During those early years, Manny met and married Evelyn, and together they raised four children: Lisa, Christine, Noel and Frank. Around 1979, the family moved west to Chehalis, Washington, where Manny pursued a career in real estate. Later, he managed Evelyn’s medical practice, continuing his connection to the health care field.

In a later chapter of his life, Manny married Geraldine, with whom he shared his later years.

Above all, Manny was a devoted father who wanted nothing more than to see his children happy. He was their biggest supporter, always present at their games and activities. While he may not have known all the rules of the sports they played, he never needed to. What mattered most was being there, cheering them on and showing them how much they meant to him.

Music was one of Manny’s greatest passions. A talented, self-taught musician, he played the piano, keyboard, saxophone, accordion and harmonica, and he loved to sing. He especially enjoyed sharing his musical talents at family gatherings, where music was often at the heart of the celebration. Karaoke was one of his favorite pastimes, and he was always happy to entertain.

Manny had a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit. He loved making people laugh and had a natural ability to put others at ease. He was happiest surrounded by family and friends, hosting gatherings filled with conversation, laughter and music. Whether someone was a longtime friend or a new acquaintance, Manny had a way of making them feel welcome and comfortable.

Manny’s Catholic faith was a cornerstone of his life. A devoted Roman Catholic and member of St. Joseph Parish in Chehalis, Washington, he attended Mass regularly and found strength and guidance in his faith.

Manny also cherished being a grandfather. Although he lived in a different city from his grandchildren, he remained deeply interested in their lives. He regularly called to ask how they were doing and what was happening in their world. It was one of the many ways he stayed connected to the family he loved.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine; his four children, Lisa, Christine, Noel and Frank; and his six beloved grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings Angelina, Fe, Rodrigo, Juanito, Jose and Remy.

Viewing will be held at St. Joseph Church in Chehalis on Friday, Nov. 20, 2026, at 10 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m.

Manny will be remembered for his quick wit, his love of music, his welcoming spirit, his deep faith and, above all, the unwavering love and support he gave his family. He had a gift for bringing people together, making them laugh and making them feel loved. His legacy lives on in the laughter he inspired, the memories he created and the family he cherished.

May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love he so freely shared with others.
