In loving memory of Nancy M. Mason

Posted

Nancy M. Mason, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many, passed away peacefully in July 2024. She was born and raised on a farm near historic Washington, Arkansas. Nancy attended high school in Hope, where she proudly graduated as a "Bobcat"

Later, while attending school in Little Rock, Arkansas, Nancy met and married a U.S. Air Force pilot, Lieutenant Larry Mason, on Dec. 31, 1960. Nancy and Larry had one daughter, Kimberly, and joyfully helped to raise four grandkids in Washington state. Nearing retirement, Nancy and Larry moved to their small ranch in southwest Washington.

Nancy was known for her generosity, leadership, strength and unwavering love and encouragement by all those who knew her. Her life was a testament to resilience and compassion. She dedicated herself to nurturing her family, daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the light and pride of her life. Her home was always a place of warmth, welcome and laughter, where she created countless memories with her loved ones.

Her caring nature extended beyond her family, touching the lives of many who were fortunate to know her. She and Larry welcomed a foster son from the age of 6 until 18 years of age. Nancy was dedicated to helping the community. In the 1970s, she was recruited as a guardian ad litem in Seattle to represent the best interests of a child or incapacitated person in the Seattle area courts. She also volunteered for hospice and for the sheriff's office as well as for multiple community organized events. Through her church and the Salvation Army, she developed a mobile food ministry to serve those in need, to lighten their load and help each day to be brighter. If you were lucky enough to have met Nancy, you will be unlikely to forget her.

Nancy is survived by her husband of nearly 64 years, Larry; her daughter, Kimberly; her sister, Frances; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. All will remember her for her boundless love and devotion.

Nancy Mason will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts and minds of those she leaves behind. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us.

Arrangements are in progress for service and interment at the Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, where she will await the arrival of her husband, Larry. Together for eternity!
