In loving memory of Raymond Leroy Waunch: 1930-2024

Raymond LeRoy Waunch, 94, a long-time resident of Oakville, WA, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2024. Raymond was born on April 30, 1930 in Elma, Washington, and was the great-grandson of George Waunch Sr., the first settler in the Centralia area. Raymond married his loving wife of 70 years, Betty (Bushnell) Waunch on December 5th, 1953 and she survives him at the family home in Oakville.

Raymond was an accomplished mechanic and worked on his first Model T when he was 6 years of age and got it running! Ray was a devoted Christian from a young age and enjoyed listening to gospel music and attending church. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, fishing in local streams and taking drives in Capitol Forest. Ray had a kind heart and loved to talk to everybody.

Raymond is survived by his beloved wife, Betty; his daughter, Donna (Jim) Kuntz; his son, Mike (Louise) Waunch; Grandchildren Laurie Hell, Charles Kuntz, Christopher Waunch, Nicholas Waunch, and Great Grandchildren Alisan Keesee and Alex Keesee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nellie (Root) Waunch and brothers Jack Waunch, Archie Waunch and Jim Waunch; his infant daughter Lisa Waunch and many nieces and nephews.

Raymond's life will be honored at a graveside service on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 10:00am at the Grand Mound Cemetery in Rochester, Washington.
