In loving memory of Robert Ramsey: 1952-2024

Posted

Robert "Rob" Eugene Ramsey went home to be with the Lord on April 13, 2024, at the age of 72, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Hillsboro, Oregon, to Gertrude (Helvie) Fievez and Robert "Bob" Ramsey.

Attending schools in Longview, he graduated from Mark Morris High School. After graduation, he went to work for the Washington state Department of Transportation. For many years, Rob was the lead at the DOT work site in Toledo. He retired after a long and accomplished 40-year career.

A highly skilled auto mechanic, Rob enjoyed helping many of his family, friends and neighbors with car repairs. He was fond of Mopar vehicles and was especially proud of a 1969 Roadrunner that he drove in the ’90s. He also enjoyed building computers, RC cars and flying drones.

A lifelong member of the Longview Church of the Nazarene, Rob was active in his church and enjoyed service work.

Rob had a deep love for his family, and his impact on our lives remains.

Survivors include children Joey (Jennifer) Ramsey McKnight and Brenda Esposito; stepchildren Joanie Linder, Ruby Linder and Jane Juliet; brothers Don (Lorrie) and Jeff (Nancy) Ramsey; sisters Alisa (Chris) Chamberlain and Nancy Moran; and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at the Longview Church of the Nazarene on July 27 at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at the Longview Memorial Park. A memorial will also be held in Long Beach, Washington, on the weekend of the Rod Run, an event he attended annually.
