In Loving Memory of Roland “Ron” Suksdorf: 1932-2021

Roland “Ron” Suksdorf passed away in Centralia, Washington on November 10, 2021. He was 89. Roland was born July 11, 1932 in Spokane, Washington to Hellmuth and Anna Suksdorf. He grew up on a farm near Spangle, Washington. After high school, Roland attended Washington State University where he played football for the Cougars until he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Roland worked for Standard Oil in Spokane, then later moved to Santa Rosa, California and owned his own Chevron station. In 1957 Roland moved to Centralia where he worked for Leduc’s Chevron until his retirement. Many customers would request that only Roland work on their vehicles. Roland enjoyed bowling, fishing, reading all westerns, attending his grandchildren’s many events, and the occasional trip to the casino. He was an avid Seahawks fan and always made it possible to never miss a game. Along with his Polled Hereford cattle, he loved raising and showing rabbits. He was also the president of the Southwest Washington Rabbit Breeders Association for many years. After retirement, he and his wife, Jane enjoyed traveling. Their favorite trip was to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville where they met several famous country western singers. Roland is survived by his wife Jane, sister Helga Mahoney, his children Rick Suksdorf (Karen), Linda Arrasmith (Bob), Robert Pierson (Kelly), Rick Pierson (Faye), Debra Dickey, Tami Smith (Russ) and Darren Pierson (Janet), as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Roland is preceded in his passing by his parents, his infant son Ross, his brothers Herbert and Waldermar “Wally”, and his nieces Karen and Julie. Roland will be long remembered for his positive outlook on life. At his request no formal services will be held. Family and friends will gather at a later time.
