William Clark Ayers (Bill) 76, of Chehalis, Washington, went on to experience a joyous return to heaven Friday evening, Sept. 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born Jan. 31, 1948, in Butte, Montana, to William Ayers and Hattie May (Fisher) Ayers.
In 1962, the family relocated to Littell, Washington, when he was 14 years old. Being the second oldest of nine children, Bill and his siblings practically overwhelmed the small school district, adding additional students to nearly every grade.
While in school, Bill enjoyed playing sports, mostly basketball, and dodging spitballs and rubber bands from Daryl Frogner, his life's love and future mother of his six children.
Bill was a god-fearing, hardworking, patriotic, family man. He was genuinely committed to providing for his family. He worked at the Centralia Coal Mine as a member of the operating engineers for over 30 years. This afforded him the opportunity to enjoy his life's true passion — home building. With his sons, Bill put the Ayers Homes signature on many of the finest homes in Lewis County. At the end of the day, he relished in the satisfaction of stepping back and seeing his hard work come to life.

Outside of work, Bill enjoyed hunting, attending The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spending time with his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents: William and Hattie, and three siblings: Donna, James and George.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years: Daryl; his devoted children: David, Julie, Jennifer, Shannon, Michael and Daniel; and his siblings: John, Francis, Edith, Ronald, Robert and Theodore; along with his 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Bill will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him. However, we are happy knowing that he is in the arms of his dear mother, Hattie. We know Bill is looking down on us, and enjoying his newly restored knees. Run Bill, run!
All friends and family are welcome to attend Bill's memorial service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2801 Mt Vista Road, Centralia, Washington. Viewing will be held from 10:15-10:45 a.m. Afterwards, a brief graveside service will be at Claquato Cemetery, 142 Stearns Road, Chehalis.
