An incident on Joint Base Lewis-McChord prompted an active-shooter response Thursday, though that response was quickly called off.

There was an incident of some kind in the vicinity of Building 2026 on Lewis Main between Liggett Avenue and Pendleton, the JBLM X account posted at 2:29 p.m. People on the base were asked to avoid the area, and some base employees said on social media their offices were locked down.

Following an investigation, law enforcement confirmed there was no active shooter and that no shots were fired in the area.

Details about what prompted the response were not immediately available, a JBLM spokesman told The News Tribune about 3 p.m.
