After coming close several times, Judah Kelly finally broke the Morton-White Pass single-game scoring record on Monday, putting up 42 points to lead the Timberwolves to a 78-60 win.
Kelly had previously tied Matt Poquette’s record of 41 twice before and put up 36 in another game this season, but now he stands alone in the MWP record books.
Kelly helped the Loggers race out to a big lead early, as the Timberwolves (6-12, 2-8 C2BL) opened up a 16-point lead in the first half.
The T-Wolves kept the energy and pace up throughout the half, and Onalaska struggled to match their intensity.
“That’s really been our forte all season,” Morton-White Pass coach Kevin Dunlap said. “We live and die on energy.”
The Loggers (3-13, 1-9 C2BL) kept up better in the second half offensively, but they couldn't stop Kelly and the rest of the T-Wolves on defense.
Tony Belgiorno scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Timberwolves, while Keaton Thompson hauled in nine boards and added eight points.
Justin Jacoby led the Loggers with 15 points, Blaze Underhill scored 14, and Ethan Thayer logged 12.
Onalaska will head to Winlock on Tuesday, while the T-Wolves will welcome Kalama to White Pass on Tuesday.
With a win, MWP would even the season series against Kalama and the two teams would be tied in the league standings for the seventh and final district tournament spot.
If the Timberwolves win on Tuesday they are still tied at the end of the regular season, the two teams would meet Friday in Toutle Lake for a tie-breaking rubber match.
