An item suspected to be a grenade drew law enforcement to a Goodwill store in Lacey Thursday morning.

An employee found the grenade in a donation box at the Goodwill on Yelm Highway Southeast, according to social media posts by Lacey police.

Lacey officers, state troopers and even military members from Joint Base Lewis-McChord responded to the scene. After a close evaluation, the parties determined the grenade was a realistic heavy metal replica.

"We are glad that everyone is safe and are grateful for our friends at (Washington State Patrol) and the U.S. Army," the post says.

Lacey police initially requested the public stay clear of the area at about 10:40 a.m. so law enforcement could move about the scene. They posted an all-clear message at about 12:30 p.m. once the situation was resolved.
