Former FBI Director Robert Mueller, who died Friday night, March 20, 2026, was a Republican. He honorably served GOP President George W. Bush and Democratic President Barack Obama.
Director Mueller was not a member of the same political party as I am, but I can still tip my cap to his honesty and integrity, as should all Americans.
In a long life of public service, maybe his greatest contribution was to modernize the FBI to meet the threats of terrorism. He was sworn in as FBI director on Sept. 4, 2001, one week before the 9/11 attacks on New York.
MAGA world was led to hate him for his investigation of what Donald Trump called “The Russia Hoax.” Except it wasn’t a hoax. He and his team found solid evidence that there were thousands of attempts by Russia to influence the 2016 election. Six members of Trump’s campaign were indicted and convicted. Trump himself was spared because Mueller did not want to indict a sitting president, as per the unwritten rules of the Justice Department.
Trump has no concept of honor or what it might mean. He degrades men like Robert Mueller and John McCain and many others who he is envious of.
So when news of Mueller’s death was announced, Trump took to his Truth Social to write, “Robert Mueller just died. Good, I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people.” Trump is many things, but he is certainly not innocent.
This is a line in the sand, but Trump has “obliterated” all of our lines in the sand hasn’t he?
MAGA world, GOP, Republican, whatever in the world you call yourselves now, where are you? I don’t hear you. So I am to assume then that you are perfectly fine with Trump’s language and sentiment regarding the death of an honest, honorable American public servant? I can assume then that you agree with Trump.
Most of all, I would like to hear Sen. John Braun, now a candidate to represent Southwest Washington in the United States House of Representatives, speak up about this. No more attacks on the horrible Democrats who run Olympia. You are vying for the national stage.
As a constituent of the Third Congressional District, I want to know if Sen. Braun believes language such as Trump used and meant is appropriate for a president of either party. Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama both wrote and published warm and admiring remarks about Director Mueller.
So, Sen. Braun what is it? What say you?
