What if God had anticipated what we call “climate change” when He created earth and purposely established photosynthesis as a natural process to be highly stimulated by increased carbon dioxide levels?
What if He knew that we humans would eventually discover crude oil and use it as an energy resource to greatly increase our wealth and prosperity and, hence, population?
Population growth means more hungry mouths to feed, but now that’s not a problem because the higher carbon dioxide levels from burning fossil fuels stimulate faster plant growth and, like manna from heaven, we have more food.
He probably also anticipated that the devil would sneak into Georgia and whisper in the ear of the environmental lobby that “ prosperity is bad.” Humans do not deserve prosperity. So you must convince the people that carbon dioxide traps heat and will make the planet warm to dangerous levels. The oceans will boil and people will die.
So the lobby did his bidding and people believed and rose up against the evil oil industry. Now, this is all pure speculation because I do not even pretend to speak for God. But the headlines fit and the science fits, so there is that possibility it’s all true and, if so, this is biblical.
It is also interesting to note that Egypt is diverting water to irrigate massive chunks of the Sahara and that Peru is diverting water flows from the eastern slopes of the Andes to turn west slope deserts into productive farmland. If we start similar projects to bring life to Australian deserts, American Southwest and those endless Asian deserts, it becomes clear that we will need a lot more CO2 in the atmosphere to support all the new photosynthesis.
I think this is God’s plan.
