Letter to the editor: Common sense and the sheriff’s race

Posted

I have followed Mr. Tracy Murphy throughout this year and I have concerns about him being trustworthy.

I have read all of The Chronicle articles concerning Mr. Murphy and note that his statements are not consistent. There have been changes regarding who he told what and when and his denial of telling anyone regarding charges he has made against Sheriff Rob Snaza and other county officials, and yet I have seen no proof backing the accusations.

This is of great concern.

The accusations, if nothing else, cast a shadow of doubt over elected officials, the main one being Sheriff Snaza. The "sticky note" posting was, in my opinion, irresponsible, wrong and disgusting.

All of this at a time when Mr. Murphy had been fired and under investigation. I have not seen anything that indicates the investigation has been completed, nor the findings of the investigation.

The last thing Lewis County needs is a sheriff who is under investigation.

That's common sense.

I cannot imagine being investigated and not being distracted for myself and my family's wellbeing. Distraction would not bode well for the best interest of the people of Lewis County — that's more common sense.

I do not personally know Mr. Murphy or Mr. Frase; however, I do know the Frase family. I grew up just up the road from the Frase family. I followed Johnny Frase during his time as a deputy under two sheriffs.

I have no doubt Gabriel Frase is qualified, having been with the Lewis County Sheriff's Office for a number of years, nor do I doubt his integrity. That's how he was raised, and he has been endorsed by the former sheriff who hired him.

Common sense.

I am a lifelong resident of Lewis County.
