Letter to the editor: Gluesenkamp Perez a cog in the Democrat machine that should be replaced

Posted

Marie Gluesenkamp Perez claims to be a moderate. Yes, she has helped many folks and has made many grateful friends. However, there’s more to realize and consider before voting.

She’s a graduate in economics from historically, extremely liberal Reed College in Portland, where I lived until college. Reed College is an expensive private institution that seldom issues any grades, and Marie’s deeper policies echo this free-thinking, strongly progressive legacy.

Because she is beholden to her party and takes final votes with agreement, she has contributed to the devastating inflation we’re experiencing. The omnibus bills that Marie has voted for are massive and tremendously bloated.

Another example is that Marie voted yes on the military budget only after trans procedures and abortion with paid leave were added. We taxpayers are thus part of that picture. It’s also known that her fellow congresswoman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has a similar economics degree, has said to just print more money. Wise economists know that just printing more money is another very significant ingredient for fueling inflation.

As to the border, Marie was actually very late to acknowledge the tremendous, ongoing problems. Even at that juncture, a border bill she worked on only punted back to actual agreement from Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkis. We recognize the folly in such an arrangement. She could have agreed with GOP bill House Resolution 2 that carried real actions, but it just wouldn’t have been a “safe” vote for her. The Democrats’ other bill they talk about so much would codify into law a large number of the currently illegal border crossings.

Marie does not protect girls and women sports from male “inclusion.” She does not protect parents’ rights for school information about their own children. She espouses up to full-term abortion for any reason at all and is misinformed about the medical emergency exception for the life of the mother.

Bill Clinton just said we need the (illegal) immigrants because our birth rate is dropping.

Leaders of the Democratic Party desire and are working for permanent full power and control of our country. They want to pack and change the U.S. Supreme Court, get rid of the filibuster and proceed merrily to implement their progressive policies unencumbered.

Isn’t this a genuine and chilling threat to democracy? Marie Gluesenkamp Perez serves as an important vote and a “cog” in their political machine and thus needs to be replaced.
