I am committed to serving Toledo’s students and families so that our community provides the very best quality education and growth opportunities for all students.
My ancestors and grandchildren have attended Toledo Schools, and I want to be an active partner helping families and the community push for high standards and success. As a retired teacher, I am very familiar with the many facets of the educational system.
The Toledo School District’s close-knit community, talented students and teachers work smart and hard. As school board director, my responsibility would include setting vision and attainable goals.
In 2025, Senate Bill 5358 was passed to provide middle school students career and technical education without impacting funding of the high school programs. I will implement this opportunity through the district’s facilities plan to best reflect building capacity, technology and infrastructure that helps expand CTE in the middle grades, which in turn feeds into high school programs and the math, science and certificates involved, as we look to provide optimal spaces and improved infrastructure for the educational environment. Not only in CTE, but in athletics and music. We need an improved track and ADA restroom, and the elementary and middle school music facilities need attention, to name a few.
Our overall math and science scores can be better. We could review the curriculums and minutes of instruction in these areas including cross-curricular integration. Our area is expanding and we need to proactively plan to ensure our community’s future produces exceptional citizens with civic pride and the employable skills our current and future trades and businesses need to address this growth.
