Letter to the editor: Introducing a new tax on letters to the editor

Upon reading Mr. Riplinger’s complaints about taxes, taxes, taxes, I found myself almost sympathetic. Almost.

However, given the multi-billion dollar hole the former Gov. Jay Inslee left the state in, it is imperative that every possible avenue of taxation is explored to alleviate the voters of the debt burdening our spending.

And so it is, Mr. Riplinger, your letter to the editor revealed what has long been an overlooked possibility to help fill the tax hole you decry. Henceforth, there will be a statewide levy on letters to the editors. Initially, it will amount to only 5% of the subscription cost of the newspaper publishing the letter.

Yes, Mr. Riplinger, your inspiring complaint is indeed a win-win. Thank you. We look forward to hearing from you. Frequently.
