Letter to the Editor: Lawmakers Must Take Action on Early Learning

Posted

As a parent, I understand the importance of early learning on a child’s development. In Lewis County, there are a few Head Start locations; however, there are only two locations on the eastern side of the county.

At the Salkum location, when a teacher is out sick, the location has to close down for the school day. This issue is particularly concerning when thinking of the negative impact it could have on the children that attend. We can expand our ability to continue education with the use of substitute teachers. We need our state lawmakers to take action and ensure that our children have a bright and healthy future.
