Letter to the Editor: Leah Daarud Will Be Missed on Centralia City Council

Posted

It was with a heavy heart that I read the article of Leah Daarud resigning from the Centralia City Council. She was one of the few council members who actually listened and took an interest in her constituents.

We are now left with a council that, for the exception of Mark Westley, does not have a voice of the people. You will be missed Ms. Daarud. I was raised in Centralia and I recognize that you fought hard for those that want to preserve the "hometown" feel of this community. Thank you for fighting the good fight. It's too bad that other council members could not learn to work with you but rather worked against you. After attending several city council meetings, I quickly realized the city council does not care about the average Centralian.

They are more about development, making property acquisitions and big business, even if it will be harmful to the city in the long run. We are going to rapidly become the new Lakewood of Southwest Washington.

This is sad indeed.
