Letter to the editor: Newspaper doesn’t appear impartial letting idiots tell others they are stupid

Posted

I’m writing in response to the letter that was printed on July 7. By from what I’ve seen. probably the best example of the Dunning Kruger effect that your paper has printed so far.

While I am somewhat happy that your newspaper is willing to print what people write in without concern for what political ideology is being represented, some of the folks here In this county seem to resemble “the apple not falling far from the tree” in much the way a family tree that has barely any branches as some of the ones around here do would lead you to believe.

I mean there should be a few words or phrases that should be non-starters. Like “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” which the words and even the word order itself are just fine, it’s when you understand there is a group of people who believe that phrase applies to others better than the one named. In the fictitious condition itself, you should realize you have a cultist and not someone who is actually consuming correct information, forming a valuable and educated opinion, and sharing it with the community.

I mean, come on, the guy pointed out that if a Google search were done, he believed it “was the Army’s birthday,” which clearly was advice he didn’t take himself (in character). While the Continental Army was formed on that day, there was no celebration other than the parade planned.

It’s the first military parade ever in the capital in the United States. We don’t do that kind of thing here. That’s what they do in North Korea and Russia and China — parades on the dictator’s birthday.

And the guy just learned the whole thing about the Continental Army and feels the guy he is responding to isn’t aware of it because he didn’t bother mentioning what everyone who pays attention to the real news already is aware of.

It’s just like when Trump finishes off talking about something he just heard of for the first time and says “a lot of people don’t know that,” or when he has no intention of doing something it will be “ready in two weeks,” or the lies that always follow when a “big guy strong guy, with tears in his eyes” goes up to Trump and says “sir.”

Anyway, my point being, you don’t appear impartial because you let idiots tell others that they are stupid. Pandering isn’t a good look, and it can’t pay the bills for long. Try printing a coloring book on a few pages, maybe a few Confederate flags or a color by number of all the soldiers left behind in Ukraine.
