As a volunteer adviser with the Lewis County Flood Control Zone District, I would like to encourage support from property owners and other stakeholders who will greatly benefit from the flow-through structure planned near Pe Ell.
This project will significantly improve safety and reduce damage caused by flooding, with extremely low environmental impacts.
Fish passage will be impacted very rarely, only during large scale flooding events.
Reducing the intensity of flood waters will reduce bank scouring and erosion.
Fish habitat will be enhanced with lower water temperatures and reduced turbidity.
The project will bring good jobs to the area. Many of the worst impacts experienced from severe flooding events will be minimized. This type of structure has been proven successful.
Reduced threats from flooding will bring an improved economic environment to the area.
This project brings clear and real benefits with very little environmental impacts. Please support the flow through-structure.
