It’s astonishing how some people remain fixated on labeling Donald Trump as a fascist and his voters as ignorant, uneducated “rubes.”
This narrative is not just false — it’s a willful misrepresentation designed to delegitimize millions of Americans who dared to vote against the establishment.
Let’s be clear: Trump’s 2024 victory wasn’t a fluke. It wasn’t the product of a small, fringe movement or misinformation campaigns. It was a decisive and historic win. Trump swept every major swing state, captured the Electoral College, and won the popular vote by more than any recent Republican.
But rather than take a moment to understand why he resonated with so many, his critics doubled down on their disdain. Democrats have turned disdain for Trump supporters into a badge of honor.
Hillary Clinton sneered at his base as a “basket of deplorables,” a statement so breathtakingly arrogant that it likely contributed to her loss.
President Biden, despite campaigning as a unifier, referred to Trump’s voters as “trash” during a fundraiser.
And Barack Obama, supposedly the intellectual and moral high ground of the left, condescendingly dismissed the heartland as people who “cling to their guns and religion” out of bitterness.
Peter Strzok says, “Just went to a Virginia Walmart. I could smell the Trump support.”
This is the elitist worldview that dominates modern progressive circles.
These insults reveal a deep misunderstanding of America’s electorate. The Democratic Party has propped up the myth Trump’s supporters are exclusively uneducated or misinformed. They ignore a significant percentage of college-educated Americans also voted for Trump.
In 2024, Trump made gains with college-educated voters, yes — but that’s only part of the story. His support crossed racial, geographic and socioeconomic lines and resonated with voters who felt abandoned by decades of broken promises from both parties.
Nearly 75% of Americans don’t hold a college degree. So, when liberals smugly sneer at “uneducated” voters, they’re effectively ridiculing the vast majority of the nation. They fail to understand that intelligence, wisdom and capability are not limited to those with a degree hanging on their wall.
What Trump’s critics don’t want to admit is that his 2024 victory was a rejection of being ignored, mocked and pushed aside by coastal elites who have no idea what life is like in Middle America.
And yet, rather than engage with these voters, the left continues to insult them. They call them bigots, fascists and fools, all while wondering why they can’t win back places like Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Democrat disdain for rural and working-class communities reveals their true priorities.
To win back the American people’s trust, Democrats need to stop preaching and start listening. They need to stop alienating millions with elitist rhetoric and instead focus on solving real problems — problems like job insecurity, rising costs of living and a broken health care system.
Until then, Trump’s message of “America First” will continue to resonate, not because his supporters are “uneducated,” but because they are tired of being insulted.
