Letter to the editor: TACO Tuesday strikes again in Iran

Posted

Recently, the NCAA playoffs were on TV and teams were playing in the Final Four to see who would make it to the finals.

I can imagine the pressure on all four teams was tremendous; the reward was so great.

In the Duke versus UConn game, the Blue Devils from Duke jumped out to a big lead, and when halftime rolled around they were up by 15 points, and in a game of this magnitude, this was a very significant lead, which would blossom to 19 in the second half.

I have a feeling they were quite confident of victory.

My wife and I always wonder what a coach and his assistants say to their players during the break, especially their team is trailing. The UConn coach and his players certainly had their work cut out for them.

In the second half, UConn came storming back, and with 0.4 seconds left in the game, one of their players hit a 3-pointer to clinch the victory and move his team on to the finals.

Elation on one side. Dejection on the other.

That got me thinking about our president’s “excursion” into Iran. He poured thousands of rounds of matériel and burned through tens of billions of dollars. And to what end?

We definitely seemed to be winning the war, and had there been a halftime, we would have been up by more than 15 points and feeling pretty confident of victory.

I don’t have any idea what the Iranian “coach” must have been telling his players, but our Coach Trump resorted to profanity, braggadocio and making fun of their religion, while our assistant coach Hegseth was no better in his vile thoughts and prayers.

But unlike the UConn game, the Iranians did not have to make a winning shot to win. So how did they do it?

Our coach Trump threw in the towel and pulled his players off the floor.

TACO Tuesday again!
