January is School Board Recognition Month, a time to recognize the locally elected leaders who serve our schools and community.
In Onalaska, our school board plays a vital role in guiding the district while ensuring our community’s voice is heard in statewide education conversations.
School board members review extensive information, balance diverse perspectives, and help set a long-term direction for the district. Working collaboratively with one another and with district staff, the Onalaska School Board strongly believes in local control, and that decisions about our schools should reflect the needs, priorities and hopes of the families we serve.
By advocating for our district and representing Onalaska at the state level, board members protect that principle while helping shape the future of public education.
I encourage our community to thank these dedicated volunteers for their leadership and service. Their commitment ensures that Onalaska’s students, families and educators are well represented, both locally and across Washington state.
