Letter to the editor: Thankful for our experience at Providence Centralia Hospital

Posted

My husband had what my daughter labeled the perfect storm; everything went wrong in his body.

We had such gentle, caring men come when we called 911 and we spent the night in emergency where well-trained nurses and the doctor immediately set in motion all the ways to cope with multiple problems while assuring us and answering our questions.

Our daughter was with us, and they provided warm blankets as we waited for the results.

From there, my husband was moved to the intensive care unit, and the lovely room was adjacent to the nurses, so any call was immediately answered. Each of the nurses were so warm, caring and friendly that the atmosphere was light and healing.

The doctors we were fortunate to see were also so capable, open and caring and helped us have courage and confidence in our care and future.

Night and day, my husband’s needs were paramount, and he joked and visited with all who came in to attend to his needs, for they had an open friendly spirit. After the long hours the workers put in, it is amazing how they each made him feel special and that this was their calling. One said, “I treat my patients like I want someone to treat my parents when they are in need.”

This community is blessed to have such a capable, well-trained staff who have the patient’s needs their number one concern.

They provided a care unit to come to the house as my husband was released to help us adjust to the new norm.

We both just want to give thanks to our experience this past week at Providence Centralia Hospital.
